Posted on November 10, 2017

Two 90-minute webinars hosted by the Central and South Central Comprehensive Centers at the University of Oklahoma in partnership with the Region III Midwest and Plains Equity Assistance Center and the Intercultural Development Research Association Region II Equity Assistance Center - South will support SEAs in the implementation of their ESSA plans. These interactive presentations will focus on strengthening SEAs’ knowledge and understanding of macro and micro systems needed to cultivate, implement, and sustain culturally responsive pedagogies and school-based practices. Participants will learn what culturally responsive pedagogy entails and a framework to support districts and schools in transforming and implementing approaches to teaching that ensures the academic achievement of all students, regardless of their cultural background, skin color, ethnicity, race, language, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. There is no cost to participate in these webinars.

The first webinar "Culturally Responsive Pedagogy: An Effective Tool in Systemic School Transformation under ESSA" was scheduled for Wednesday, November 15, 2017, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. CT.

The second webinar "Cultivating Equity-oriented Educators: What SEAs Can do to Promote Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Practices at the LEA Level" was scheduled for Tuesday, December 5, 2017, from 2:00 to 3:30 PM CT.
