The C3 Regional Advisory Board (RAB) structure and purpose were designated in legislation (Section 203, Title II of the Educational Technical Assistance Act). The role of the C3 Regional Advisory Board is to advise the Center on regional technical assistance (TA) initiatives and needs.
The C3 RAB is composed of educational and community stakeholders from each state in the region (Colorado, Kansas, and Missouri) plus the Chief State School Officer (CSSO) from each state. Convening a regional advisory board is part of the legislation in the design of the comprehensive centers. Members are appointed by each state's CSSO in consultation with the Governor. The Regional Advisory Board meets annually to provide feedback and guidance on C3 Technical Assistance services and regional work plan. Additional representatives from partner organizations who have supported C3 with collaborative technical assistance initiatives may attend, as will C3 staff members.
The Center provides high quality TA and promote initiatives promoting progress toward student academic achievement. Highlighted recommendations from the advisory board over the past have been in such areas as closing the achievement gap, school improvement, leadership, high school reform, innovations in education, and English language learners.
This year the focus topic for the meeting is Changing Rules, Changing Roles, and focuses on the changes in curriculum content, educator effectiveness, and state accountability and assessment brought about by the enactment of the Every Student Succeeds Act.
